FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY

Mount Airy Philadelphia and the Surrounding Area

At Mount Airy Groceries, we believe everyone should have access to nutritious, fresh, and affordable food. Our goal is to combat food insecurity by getting healthy food to those who need it most.

We're raising funds, promoting initiatives, and taking action with urgency to increase public awareness. Buy a fresh food box and support our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others.

Mount Airy Groceries is an organization of neighbors that empowers you not only to eat well but to make sure that your neighbors do too. We proudly provide nutritious produce boxes to the pantries of Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network.  Your purchases and donations support hungry families in your community.  Every box of produce you buy provides another donated box for someone in need.

Discover fresh food to nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Learn how to partner with us today to help your neighbors eat as well as you do.

NEIGHBORS FEEDING NEIGHBORS

We are neighbors who created this food program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to help our neighbors.  People need help putting food on the table now more than ever.  We can now proudly act as an official non-profit as a sub-trust of Culture Trust Greater Philadelphia.

We are open 5 days a week and fill orders Tuesday through Saturday.  We often feature special items throughout the week and have weekend raffles and sales.   When you place your order for the week you can choose the fulfillment day from a drop down menu. You will receive an email with instructions to pick up your order Tuesday through Friday between 3 and 6 or expect delivery between 3 and 7.  Saturday orders are ready for pick-up and delivery 9am to 12pm.

You may email us at mountairygroceries@gmail.com or call 215-805-8796 if you want different accommodations.

We provide produce boxes at low cost or for free for those who need them via Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network.  Your purchases and donations to Mount Airy Groceries ensure that we can continue to do that.

Mount Airy CDC has kindly offered their storefront as a fulfillment center for us.  Their generosity allows us to continue to operate and bring you food at a low cost. Please support the Mount Airy CDC's efforts to sustain our neighborhood.

YOUR BOX'S BOUNTY

We partner with wholesalers who distribute to us from local organic farms, retailers who can provide us with fruit from around the world, and other suppliers from the tri-state area.  We are also proud to include local produce grown right here in Mount Airy when it is available.

Our produce boxes are prepared with complete nutrition in mind and include a combination of kitchen staples as well as the freshest seasonal items we can find.

What's in the Box?

We strive to provide your family with whole and complete nutrition.  Your box always contains a thoughtful amount of variety to provide you with all of the proteins, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, starches, and fiber that you need to thrive.

Every box always has a base of rice and a dried legume, potatoes or yams or another starchy vegetable.  We then carefully select 15 to 20 different types of fruits and vegetables with your health in mind.  For example, you will usually have a variety of items such as citrus fruits for Vitamin C, bananas for potassium, carrots for Vitamin K, garlic for its antibiotic qualities, and leafy greens which are also high in Vitamin A, calcium, magnesium, folate, fiber, and iron.

You will notice that your box will be beautiful and filled with a rainbow of different types of produce.  This is not only about aesthetics, but because each food has a special value that it offers you in nutritional benefits.

You may choose Tofu or Eggs as a protein source at checkout.

Feel free to call 215-805-8796 any day after 11am to see what produce we have procured for that day.
